Customer Reviews

Low cost fix for your dryer that you can do yourself. After taking the front panel off and observing the behavior, sometime the burner would ignite, sometime not or it would start and turn off shortly after, the solenoid replacements was completed. It has been 10 days with no hint of an issue.Remove panel of dryer (can be the hardest part). Disconnect power to dryer, remove solenoid cables (2), remove the solenoid bracket (2 screws), remove old solenoids, hook up cables to the new solenoids, reinstall (place on posts) the solenoids, reinstall bracket. Plug in the dryer and get those clothes dry.The repair should take about 10 minutes. 5Exact replacement, fixes the problem outlined in my description. On an 80 series Kenmore Dryer, a gas coil failure can be determined by a few observations.1. Dryer will operate and heat up initially, but then cool down but continue to run through its cycle. Clothes may feel damp and cold upon examination after the dryer cycle ends. Your dryer will not heat up again during the cycle, and requires a lengthy cool down before heating up again. (if your dryer fails to heat up at all, this coil is not likely to be the culprit).2. Dryer will heat up for a short time, but fail to maintain heat, this can be observed by holding your hand against your dryer exhaust tube (being careful to feel for heat before making physical contact).3. Dryer will make an audible noise after the heat stops working, lasting 10 seconds on average, and repeating the noise every 30 seconds or so. The noise should be mechanical in nature, and should be present regardless of temp settings, or dryer setting (air dry cycle is an exception, as the coil should not be operating during this cycle if your dryer has the setting). The noise made by a faulty coil may not be present in all circumstances.Replacing the coils requires knowledge of how to remove the front lower panel of your dryer, some dryers may not have a separate lower panel and will require the removal of the entire front panel. Methods for removal will vary by model, but only requires screw drivers and/or nut driver hand tools. Coils should be housed near the heat assemble, and held in place with a bracket, which may need to be removed entirely to remove the old coils. Alignment points on the coils will guide the re-assembly, and the electrical connections are easy to figure out. Please consult videos on-line about the process, and seek professional assistance if you are unsure about your abilities to perform this repair. 5Fixed the problem right upI have a 17 year old Kenmore dryer and all the sudden it would get hot when first turned on but after that it just blew cold air. I looked through the peep hole and saw that it would glow for a few seconds but the gas would not turn on and produce the flame (sure sign the coils were bad). I was not sure if these were the right ones (the manual has been long gone) but for the low price I rolled the dice. It arrived very quick thanks to Amazon so now it was time to see if it would work. I gave it 5 stars for ease of installation, as the coils themselves were easy to install. Getting to them was a bear tho. This is no fault of the coils. The whole process took about an hour as it was my first time (I am sure I saved hundreds by not having it professionally done). Turned the dryer on and it works like new. Actually a little better then new as the drying time has been reduced from 40 minutes to about 25 minutes for an average size load. 5Great Price. Works GreatThese were purchased to repair my Kenmore gas dryer. The heater would fire up and run for a few minutes and then turn off. I checked the resistance on the ones that were in it. They read as normal, but there was nothing wrong with any of the other controls, so I replaced the coils on a hunch that when they heated up, they would lose resistance, and shut down the burner. The price was not as cheap as other ones, but the shipping was free under prime so I ordered these ones for $2 more than the others, so I did not have to wait a week for the others to ship. These arrived in 2 days and were replaced the same day as arrival. The dryer now operates as it should. Great shipping, direct replacement, dryer is back up and running at a great price. I would order these again if needed. 5Old coils had connectivity but were still the cause of my problem...Coils worked as expected. Thanks to earlier reviews which aided in my troubleshooting. To help others going forward....Flame came on once and then cycled off when the dryer got up to temperature (~190 degrees). When time to cycle back on the igniter glows, there is a noticeable chattering sound, no gas comes on, and the igniter then turns off. Would let this happen several times with no gas turning on to meet the glowing igniter. Chattering led me to believe it was the coils. Checked them for connectivity expecting to find one had failed. To my surprise, they both had the readings one would expect (see youtube) for coils with connectivity. This really bummed me since I was sure the problem was the coils. Figured for 8 bucks it was worth a try to replace the 25 year old coils. Gladly, the new coils fixed my broken gas dryer. Not an electrician here....I guess my 2 cents is that if the coils, or other parts show connectivity, don't conclude that the problem is not with those parts. Sadly, the wife still has to wait for that new $800 dryer :-) 5Very Fast Shipping, Easy Install, Quality- Not sure.I ordered this part Oct of 2018 for my dryer, a Samsung 9 years old. Part arrived quickly and installed effortlessly. I was very happy that it saved me a repairman call. Fast forward to last week, August 2019, and the part failed. After some troubleshooting we realized the solenoid(s) were sticking. When tapping the top of the solenoid it would then work, only to repeatedly stick again. I was pretty disappointed that this part only lasted 10 months. I have just ordered and received & reinstalled the part again hoping that the other was just a fluke/lemon. Again, the part arrived extremely quickly and it is easy to install. Taking apart the dryer front takes longer than installing the solenoid. Thankfully, dryer is now working great. Hope this part lasts years vs months. 1Easy fix for GE gas dryer not heatingBought for a GE gas dryer that quit heating. After watching a 20 minute video on youtube that had me check all the thermostats and skin my knuckles in the process, the gentleman on youtube states that the most common problem is the solenoids. So when everything else checked OK, I ordered these, replaced, and I'm back in business. Wife happy, no need for expensive replacement. If I'd have to do it again, I would go straight for solenoids, skip checking the thermostats 5Next day delivery, now dryer worksFor like 10 bucks delivered to my door the next day this was hard to beat. The coils look identical to the old ones that I removed from the dryer and they fit perfectly. And now the dryer works again like it's supposed to. I cannot offer any testimony as to the longevity of these coils but for ten bucks I'll change the damn things every year if I have to.Here's a quick troubleshooting guide for your gas dryer in case you're reading this review trying to figure out how to fix the thing yourself. Remove the inspection cover or the lower front panel so you can see the Fire part. Start the dryer cycle. If the glowy thing turns on and never turns off and the fire never lights up then you need a flame sensor. If the glowy thing never glows, change it it's called the igniter. If the glowy thing glows and then turns off but the Fire doesn't come on or if the fire comes on one time and then never comes on again for subsequent heat Cycles, change the coils. If you follow these instructions and the dryer still doesnt heat up, call the appliance man cuz youre over your head. 5Perfect fit to get my Amana gas dryer repaired - recommendedMy older Amana natural gas dryer stopped heating the air. After unplugging the unit, I found the electrical schematic inside the controls head compartment. Using my Fluke digital multimeter, I tested the fusible links, temperature sensors, wiring, heater/igniter, and the gas valve coils. I found that the resistance value on one of the coils was significantly higher than the nominal value listed for it in the schematic. Using the valve part number, I found this replacement coil kit on Amazon. In reading the reviews, I went ahead and ordered a set. They were delivered as promised (actually early) the next day (I paid the extra $4 for next day, as I really didn't want to drag all my wet clothes to the laudromat). I measured the coil resistances on the new coils and they fell within the acceptable ranges indicated on the schematic. So, I made sure the power was disconnected from the dryer and installed the new coils. I only needed to remove two small machine screws that hold the coil mounting bracket in place, one-by-one replace the coils, and re-install the bracket. The whole job took 15 minutes, and now my dryer's heating the air perfectly. 5Fixed my problem!I have a White-Westinghouse gas dryer from 1991 and it was having issues. It would fire up initially to warm up the dryer, then the fire would go out like it's supposed to but it would not come back on. The fire was all orange, too -- not blue like you would expect. I would hear a high pitched chattering sound while the fire was supposed to be on after that. I really thought I was screwed and would have to buy a $400 dryer. So I took the inspection cover off after I did some research and learned that the chattering was coming from my gas valve and that the coils were not actuating the valve properly. So I figured, "For $8.89, I might as well give it a shot." Fixed it immediately and it was so easy to do. Just look it up on YouTube. You have to unscrew 2 screws and unplug the wires from the coils and that's literally it. Installation is the reverse of the removal. This was so easy and I would recommend this to anyone having a similar issue to me, as these coils are all pretty standardized across most gas dryers.I would also recommend cleaning out your vent while you are doing dryer maintenance. I did mine the easy way. I just shoved a leaf blower in my vent that goes into the wall, sealed it with a rag, and cranked it on. My yard was full of lint but there is much more air coming through the vent now. My dryer used to get hot to the touch on the outside and dryers are not supposed to be hot to the touch. Now it's barely warm because the heat is going outside the house through the vent like it's supposed to. It lowers the risk of fire as well.Money is hard to come by these days but this is such a cheap and simple solution that I couldn't recommend it enough. My wife and I are so happy this worked. My dryer works better than ever. 10/10 would recommend. 5
